Treating Achilles Tendonitis
Achilles tendonitis is a common overuse injury that causes pain, stiffness, and swelling along the back of the heel. This type of injury is especially found in runners, athletes, and people who have suddenly increased their activity levels.
Achilles tendonitis is typically treated conservatively, meaning without surgery. The most effective treatments include reducing or modifying activity, applying ice to the pain, and using anti-inflammatory medications to manage pain and swelling. Stretching and strengthening exercises, especially targeting the calf muscles, are also critical for healing.
